If you live in most types of inner city dwelling; the odds are that you will be forced to park your car some place away from where you actually live. In some cases, you might be lucky enough to be able to park it up at the curbside right outside your front door.
Or, maybe you won’t be quite so lucky? Cars have alarms that can mysteriously go off to everyone’s annoyance and they do not always stop someone trying to open the doors. Neither can they stop other cars from sideswiping yours; nor vandals scratching it with keys. Additionally, they definitely do not stop your car from being buried during a winter blizzard. Open air parking can be fraught with problems.
Park Under Cover
This will give you much more peace of mind. For the city dweller, this might mean having to pay rental space but, for those fortunate enough to live in a house that does not occupy every square foot of its lot they can usually find space to build some form of covered parking on their own property. Even a simple car port will keep the weather off but it might not be sufficient to deter anyone with criminal intent. For maximum security, your car needs to be locked up inside – in other words, you need a garage of your own. It can be attached to the main house or completely separated but, once your car is inside it and the door(s) locked; it would take something extremely serious to cause it harm.
Having A New One Built
Although most home buyers will either seek a property with an existing garage; or, if going for new built, specify one as being part of the construction project; there are many good reasons why they might, at some time, decide that they want a new one built. Maybe the old one was only for one car and they now own more than one (or maybe they also want to park a small boat in with their car). They may even desire extra covered space outside the residential part of the home to use as workshop.
Demand is actually such that there are specialist contractors whose only work is to be garage builders for Chicago, its environs and any other part of the country for that matter. Absolute Garage Builders are but one example of these in the Chicagoland area.
