There are a lot of different companies offering a range of humidifying systems and controllers. Some of these companies are retailers, marketing products from a variety of manufacturers or working as an authorized distributor for one or more brands.
There are also companies that sell directly to customers as well as work through approved distributors. When buying a humidity controller, which is a vital part of the system, be sure to choose the option of buying directly from the manufacturer or through an authorized dealer. Don’t deal just with retailers, as if you do have problems or need support these outlets will not have the same experience and expertise as buying right from the manufacturer.
Look at the Brand
While in some parts of a system it is possible to use generic or third-party brands when it comes to humidity controller units always choose quality over price. This isn’t to say that a moderately priced system isn’t a good choice, but a cheap system is never a bargain.
Cheap systems cannot maintain accuracy in the humidity levels. They use low-cost electronics and sensors, which can end up causing problems with production or, in a greenhouse, the complete loss of a crop.
Research Accuracy and Setting Ranges
A top manufacturer of any quality humidity controller will provide information on the accuracy of their controllers. In most cases, this will be within plus or minus one or two percent between specific humidity ranges.
These same companies will typically also provide high-level humidity control units. With these systems, even high humidity levels of over 70% can be maintained with accuracy and without the need to constantly replace the unit. They are made to withstand the high humidity levels with sealed systems that protect electronics and sensors for increased life.
