The term ‘LED light’ has been around for a while. In many people’s minds, it just means ‘fancy lights.’ In reality, there is a complex and amazing world surrounding LED lights.
Simply put, an LED light is a Light-Emitting diode that gives off light when an electrical current passes through it. LED lights are assembled into light bulbs and lamps and used in lighting fixtures. LED lights are far superior to incandescent and florescent lights and are steadily becoming the norm in many applications of lights. They’ve been used for Christmas illuminations in Viborg, Denmark to the National Museum in Warsaw. One interesting and very essential use of LED lights is in signal lights.
Signal lights are unarguably the only thing that keeps motorized movement sane and not a war-zone. Signal lights are an intergalactic treasure. What would we do without them? These life-saving lights are now making the shift to LED light usage. And with good reason: there are a plethora of benefits to LED signal lights.
Lasting Lifeline
The average LED light lasts up to 50 times longer than incandescent lights and up to 5 times longer than fluorescent lights. This means that LED signal lights will last longer without the need for replacement, enabling them to serve the public for a longer period of time.
Efficient Use
LED lights are famous for their efficiency, using between 75% and 90% less energy than incandescent lights. As the world looks to be more energy efficient, LED signal lights are the way to go. They also produce very little heat.
Color Coordination
LED lights come in a variety of base colors: red, blue, green, and amber. Unlike incandescent lights, LED lights do not require filters to create colors, making LED signal lights perfect when you require color-coding.
Little Maintenance
LED lights by their nature require little maintenance. This means that LED signal lights would save cost on money that otherwise would have gone towards maintenance.
The importance of signal lights cannot be overstated. These oh so important lights need the best in terms of reliability and efficiency, and in the 21st Century, that means LED lights.
