Being Safe With Candles

Have you ever had a really hard day at work or school?  Those days when you come home just exhausted and you hope that tomorrow never comes because that means more work or school?  Well, as hard as those days can be, you might take some comfort in knowing that there are things that can help you feel better and feel refreshed and energized.  One such thing that you might want to consider, is that of scented Soy Candles.  Candles have the ability to produce a vast number of different smells and aromas, many of which are specially formulated to help with specific moods or feelings, such as stress or tension.  As relaxing as it might sound to light up a scented candle and get comfortable and cozy, it’s important to remember a few safety rules before using any kind of candle products.

A very important item of safety is that you should always keep candles out of the reach of any and all children and pets.  Pretty much any candle is activated by way of a heat producing device.  Some candles use wicks to produce and control their heat, while others use candle warmers to get the necessary heat that they need in order to melt and produce the desired fragrances.  And because the vast majority of candles produce some form of heat, it is important to keep them in a safe place where they cannot be bothered by little hands or paws.  Children or pets could easily knock over Soy Candles and neither would necessarily understand the potential dangers involved and it could even go completely un-noticed and lead to a dangerous fire.

Another important safety item is controlling the length of the wick on wick-based candles.  Most manufacturers or Soy Candles recommend that you trim the length of the wick to about ¼ of an inch.  One reason why this is important is because if you have a wick that is too long, then the flame may consume the entire length of the wick, producing a flame that is dangerously large and that could possibly cause or promote a fire.  Like any other fire, fires produced by candle wicks should be carefully monitored and observed in order to prevent anything catching fire that you don’t want to be on fire.  For this reason, it is also very important to light or burn candles in a place that is away from any and all flammable materials or substances.

Relaxing to the pleasant aromas of soy candles are often a welcome treat. Top Shelf Candles have three different collections of natural scented soy candles such as a Capri Blue, Traviata and the Classic Collection. Visit them now!
