Have you been dealing with a terrible Sinus Infection that never seems to go away? If so, don’t feel alone. Millions of people deal with horrible sinus infections each year. Some of them develop sinus infections due to things like season allergies while others develop them because of bacterial infections. Some people even develop sinus infections because they have a deviated septum or nasal polyps. Regardless of why you have developed a sinus infection, there’s some symptoms you should be aware of which may indicate you should visit an Ear, Nose and Throat Doctor (ENT) right away.
One sign you should visit an ENT to seek treatment for your sinus infection is if you have a headache that doesn’t seem to go away. Many times, individuals with a severe sinus infection struggle to get rid of their headaches using over-the-counter pain relievers. Also, if you’ve been dealing with symptoms like a runny nose or a cough that have lasted for more than a week or so, you will likely need an antibiotic to get rid of those symptoms. Some people also experience symptoms like extremely bad breath and pain in their upper teeth when they have a sinus infection.
Another sign you may need to visit an ENT is if you’ve been dealing with pain in your face for more than a couple of months. Even if you don’t have typical sinus infection symptoms, you may still have an infection that needs to be treated. When you have a sinus infection, you may also feel pain or pressure across the top of your nose or experience dark circles under your eyes. Also, it is possible to have a low-grade fever when you have a sinus infection but, if the fever doesn’t go away within a few days, you need to be evaluated.
There are times when at-home treatments can prevent the need to go to the doctor for a Sinus Infection, but that’s not typical. Therefore, if you’ve been dealing with a sinus infection that doesn’t seem to be improving, contact your family doctor today. However, if you don’t have a provider, or feel it would be best to see a doctor who specifically treats sinus conditions, contact Allen ENT. They would be happy to provide you with treatment for your infection as well as other ear, nose or throat conditions.
