Benefits of Waltz Dance Classes

Dancing has many benefits for participants, and it is a lot of fun. Health benefits include regular exercising, flexibility, endurance, increased mobility, great posture, and balance. It also helps to regulate and improve deep breathing, lowers blood pressure, and reduces stress by helping the body relax. Participating in Waltz Dance classes can help people lose weight, improve their coordination, and even help them sleep better. Other benefits include self-expression, confidence, and socialization.

People do not have to have a partner to take dance classes because single participants can be matched up with other singles, or dance with the instructor if everyone else is paired up. There are also no prerequisites, so people who have no idea how to dance can join classes at any time. Experienced instructors can teach lessons to people of all skill levels.Dancing schools have a variety of methods for instructing participants. Some begin with an instruction of each component of dance, or teach each step separately, while others teach specific dances as a whole.

The method developed by Fred Astaire Dance Studios, for example, consists of a three-tiered approach. People begin with private lessons. Personalized instruction and one-to-one attention allows people to learn the basics of dance steps, learn how to lead, or follow, a dance partner, and build confidence in ability. Group lessons are next. Students work with other students to learn patterns, techniques, the mechanics of dancing, and balance. Group lessons also allow students to dance with each other, and learn how to dance with any partner.

Practice lessons are the third tier to the approach. Students practice skills learned so far, as well as begin to identify music styles, get familiar with dancing on a crowded dance floor without bumping into other dancers, and pulling all the components of dance together to get the most enjoyment out of the activity. In addition to Waltz Dance classes, other styles and dances are taught as well. American, international dances, Latin, exhibition dances, and theater arts classes are available and include a wide range of dances. Rhythm dances, for example, include salsa, swing, rumba, mambo, and others. Smooth dance types include tango, foxtrot, waltzes, and the quickstep.
