Explaining the Many Uses of a Hydraulic Rock Drill

by | Jan 19, 2017 | Hydraulic Equipment Supplier

Drill rigs aren’t always necessarily versatile. In fact, most drill rigs are quite specialized, and even when ordinarily used for a wide range of industries and various different uses, most smaller contractors would never be able to justify the investment in a massive drill rig due to the rarity of having to use them save for special cases.

However, if there were a drill rig that could be considered versatile – and as a result, highly useful – then that would be the hydraulic rock drill.

There are quite many reasons to consider the full-on purchase of a hydraulic rock drill over simply renting one – and the biggest reason is that most professionals on a contractor work site will appreciate the presence of a portable and powerful hydraulic rig. Here are some of the uses this drill faces – and as such, an easy explanation for its popularity:

  • It is lightweight, which means it is the go-to tool for necessary on-site clearing odd jobs like rock splitting and blasting. Lack of compressor further increases mobility and reduces cost.
  • It’s capable of impressive drilling feats, on top of relatively simple drilling tasks.
  • Can drill down about a meter in a single drilling session with a simple spiral drill bit – incredible for a highly compact drill.
  • Can drill where most rigs would just fail to fit, or function properly – highlighting the tool’s amazing finesse and maneuverability in tight spaces.

In short – a hydraulic drill pays to own. It operates simply and under a number of conditions, and runs mostly on well-lubricated oil-based parts as the name implies as per Dictionary. If you’re looking for one powerful piece of equipment to invest in, then investing in this is a choice you can’t really go wrong with. Note that this isn’t a specialized drill – if you’re looking for something to blast apart bigger boulders, install giant 3 meter anchor bolts, or take care of an assortment of other special tasks, you’ll need a different tool.
