Are you interested in restoring a classic Ford? Maybe you want a muscle car which represents a bygone era. You might want to consider a 1966 Fairlane for your restoration project. Ford Fairlane parts are not hard to find if you go to trusted sources like Concours Parts & Accessories. Here are some reasons to consider this classic vehicle.
New Body
From 1962 until 1965 the body style of the Fairlane was unchanged. Many people consider the 66 Fairlane as the perfect size car. It is not technically a full-size car, but it is roomier than a compact size. The body design is a radical departure from previous years. For example, the headlights are (stacked) vertical instead of side by side (horizontal). This new style was designed to compete with the Pontiac GTO and its famous 389 engine with three two-barrel carburetors.
Power
If you are looking for muscle, look no further than the Fairlane 427 motor. This was a powerful engine with more than 400 horsepower. However, the 427 is not very common, but you can find many Ford Fairlane parts for the powerful 390 engine with 335 horsepower. For the more economically minded, there was also a 200 six-cylinder engine.
Options
The Fairlane offered XL, GT, and 500 models. Customers could enjoy an automatic transmission or 4-speed manual transmission. Two four-barrel carburetors were possible too. Ford made a convertible, and you could have bucket seats and many more options
Fairlane Built for Racing
You may not find a lot of Ford Fairlane parts for the drag strip designed Fairlane. It was made for the car owner who was serious about racing. The vehicle was stripped down to accommodate the demands of racing. However, these cars are very rare and less than 100 have been documented.
