Tips For Ordering Custom Polypropylene Valves

by | Dec 20, 2019 | Valve Manufacturer

There are many different types of materials that can be used to make valves. For general types of applications, copper, brass, or different types of rigid plastics are often used, with plastic becoming increasingly popular. When it comes to high purity types of applications, where all components of the system have to be non-reactive with the media and also resistant to corrosion and deterioration, polypropylene valves are the ideal solution.
Most of the polypropylene valves used in high purity types of application, use PTFE, which is also known as Teflon, as a coating on the wetted surfaces. It prevents bacterial growth, eliminates corrosion, and also provides a frictionless surface that does not impede the movement of the media through the valve.

There are standard and miniature polypropylene valves of all types, including those that are manually operated through to pneumatic and solenoid valves. For some applications, the valves that are off-the-shelf may not be the ideal solution. In these applications, a custom valve provides the specific control required.

What to Know

Before ordering custom valves, carefully consider what is needed. This includes any special valve functions, the materials used for the valve seal, as well as the specific conditions where the valve needs to operate.

Verify the temperature range, system pressure, and system flow rate before ordering a valve. Know the high and low measurements for each of those factors.

Always research a manufacturer before placing a custom order. For high purity types of valve requirements, find a manufacturer that works exclusively with polypropylene and PTFE valves.
