You will have a line of credit that is used for progress payments to your builder, once the home is completed this will be converted to a regular residential mortgage that you pay off during a fixed term.
Keep resale in mind:
You may think this is your last stop; chances are good that it isn’t. This probably will not be the only home you ever own, opportunities arise and you find yourself selling your home to move to a new city. When you build, take this into account, don’t build a home that is incompatible in price to other homes in the immediate area, otherwise when you do sell you may not recognize the full cost of constructing it.
