Five Things to Learn Before You Take Guitar Lessons

Learning how to play the guitar can awesome. But before you get excited about playing the chords of music you love, here are a couple of things you should know before you start taking your guitar lessons in Toronto.

Your fingers are going to ache

Your hands are going to feel pain, BuzzFeed says. That’s good. It means your hands are getting stronger. You’re likely to experience hands cramp too. No worries on that score, though. Your teacher will show you several hand exercises to ease the strain and soreness.

You need a good teacher

Watching YouTube videos isn’t enough, not if you’re serious about your music. Take guitar lessons in Toronto and find a teacher to get you started on learning the basics right. A teacher can customize the class to fit your needs. That can do a lot to improve the speed and pace with which you learn.

Practice is more important than gear

It’s easy to get lost in all the gear. But while they can add extras, they’re not going to matter if you don’t practice. Practice is always better. If you want to learn how to play like the great music legends of the past, then get as much practice as you can.

You can practice anywhere

Don’t just pick up your guitar when it’s time for your class. Practice outside your classes. Do it a few times a week. That’s going to build muscle memory and strength, making your fingers more flexible and capable of playing out those notes.

Be focused

Mindless practicing isn’t going to help you. It’s better to practice for about thirty minutes every day or every other day when you put your mind and heart into it than to practice for three hours straight, distracted or out of it. Break those sessions up and concentrate.
