The Different Pattern Options for Patio Brick Pavers

by | Jun 11, 2015 | Landscaping

Bricks are becoming an increasingly popular choice for patios. That is because they are durable, low-maintenance and have a variety of different colors and sizes to choose from. They are also very versatile in the type of patterns that can be created. These are some of the most common patterns that can be created in patios.

One of the most challenging patterns to create with Patio Brick Pavers is the circular pattern. This pattern is created from a central point. Once the point is laid down, the circles are built. Each circle layer uses more bricks. This circular pattern continues until the bricks reach an edge. Circles can be built around multiple points. If you have planters, the circles can be weaved around them to turn them into a center point for the start of this type of pattern.

Another very popular design option used in patios is the herringbone pattern. The herringbone pattern utilizes placing bricks at an angle where the smaller end is placed next to the longer end of another brick in a vee shape. The bricks are continued to be laid in the vee pattern until the area is covered. The bricks can be trimmed to accommodate edging or areas where the bricks need to go around something. Once the starting bricks are laid, the rest usually fall into place.

The basket weave pattern can also be created with Patio Brick Pavers. The basket weave utilizes both vertical and horizontal brick positions. The columns are laid vertically while the rows are placed horizontally. Sometimes, accent pieces are added in the space to act as a filler at the corners of the bricks. The basket weave pattern can be placed around objects. The full effect of this pattern can be seen in rectangular or square patios.

In addition to these popular patterns, many other patterns can be created with the bricks. If are having trouble picking a design, the bricks can be laid out to help with the visualization of the patterns. To figure out which pattern you want for your brick patio, contact FGM Landscaping.
