The Importance of Water Remediation

by | Apr 27, 2016 | Home Improvement

In order to optimize the value of your biggest asset, your home, it is critical that upon seeing the first signs of water damage, or mold, you take steps to remediate or restore your property from the damage caused by water leaks. This is where the value of water remediation professionals comes in.

More about Remediation

Water damage remediation is a constantly growing and fast moving industry, and companies are always learning more about the most effective ways to implement sustainable water remediation in residential properties.

If you identify that you have mold in your home, then it is probably symbolic of a larger unseen problem such as a water leak behind the wall, or that moisture is finding a way to build up in that area.  To address this problem, you need to call in a remediation expert who can conduct a thorough investigation as to what is causing the problem.

Once this is identified, you can take steps to resolve the cosmetic aspects of the problem. Once the area has dried out, you can remove the mold using a commercially available mold cleaner.  You might then opt to call in the professionals to repaint any walls that have been damaged.

It is strongly recommended, however, that you don’t take any steps to resolve the cosmetic damage until such time as you have called in the water remediation experts to resolve the problem, as some issues can require extensive investigation, including removal or cutting into existing drywall, timber or tiling.

After Repairs and Remediation

Once the repairs are complete, it makes sense to complete any wall repairs and painting, pulling up and replacing any carpeted areas, replacement of timber structures or tiles.  You may even use this as an opportunity to redecorate the room, so it is advisable to wait until all remedial works are finalized.
