Whether for industrial or residential use, more and more people are turning to LED lights. This is especially true, in light of the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 (EISA) Congress passed, cnet says.
Even without it, though, the tremendous cost-savings you get when you opt for LED lighting systems make the switch a no-brainer. Before you start shopping for LED components, here are a few tips you should keep in mind:
Know what you need
First, figure out what kind of LED lights you need. Is it an a-shaped bulb, r or BR bulbs or PAR bulbs? Or maybe you need a series of bulb strips instead? Figure out in advance what’s on your list so it’s easier to zero in on what lights fit the bill.
Check the brightness
You wouldn’t want to end up with lights that don’t deliver the same brightness as your old lights. But don’t rely on the wattage of your old bulb. That won’t be of any use to you. What you need to do is match that brightness to the lumens or light output of a LED light.
Scrutinize the numbers
With LED lights, you get color temperatures designed by numbers. So if you want something that offers a soft glow or strong light, you can pick out from warm white, neutral white or very cool white to get the kind of light you want.
Read the Lighting Facts label
Most consumer bulbs carry this information. You’ll find it easier to determine the lumens, light appearance as well as cost savings you get from buying that LED light.
Buy the right socket
LED components include sockets too. Find ones that are compatible with your bulb. Do your research to make sure those sockets are a match.
So remember these tips before you shop. That way, you’ll have an easier time buying what you need.
