Planning a British Columbia vacation? Here are some great tips for getting the most out of your getaway – by doing less, instead of more!
Don’t Overdo It
Yes, you want to enjoy your vacation to the fullest. Yes, you want to see and do everything possible in the location where you’ll be staying. However, overbooking and overextending yourself will only lead to being tired and not enjoying yourself. Why sacrifice the relaxation and refreshment that you’re taking the vacation to find in the first place? Keep it simple and enjoy what you do.
Make Relaxing Part of the Attraction
There are multiple ways you can relax and also enjoy the sights of your surroundings. Consider these fun and relaxing things you can add to your vacation itinerary:
- Go on a low-impact hike along an even trail. It will feel more like a pleasant stroll than a workout.
- Take a boat ride. A nice trip around a lake or river can really relax you – and will give you that “on vacation feeling” at the same time!
- Consider airborne attractions. Have you ever ridden on a mountainside sky lift or ski lift? Many locations offer these for visitors – with or without the skiing or mountain climbing!
- Two words: Lazy. River.
There are so many ways to enjoy your time off – and truly feel like it’s time off, while you’re doing it!
Stay on Top of Your Schedule
Nothing puts a kink in your plans for vacation like missing a boat or having to forgo an event that you didn’t make it to. Nothing makes you stress quite as much, either. Research things like ferry times from Victoria to Vancouver and keep that information with you. Set alarms on your phone or watch and try to avoid sleeping through breakfast – unless you just really don’t mind missing out on your original plans. Hey, nobody will judge you for it – it’s your vacation!
