Every company and building should have an emergency response plan and a team that can come in and help whenever necessary. Your employees or tenants must be kept safe, as safety should be your number one priority above all else. While you want to ensure that your possessions and materials are safe, as well, they aren’t as important as human life.
Creating A Plan
Emergencies are going to happen, whether you plan for them or not. It’s always a good idea to be prepared as much as possible, which can include writing up rules and policies for certain things, practicing drills, and training people on what to do. ERTs are prepared for anything and can rescue you whenever necessary. However, many of them can also collaborate with you to create, design, implement and test a plan to prevent safety problems from occurring during a crisis.
What They Do
These teams are diverse and will do whatever’s necessary at that moment in time. It’s hard to describe what they do because each situation is different. They will use their excellent communication skills to tell you and others where to go so you’ll be safe. They’ll also administer first aid and CPR as necessary and help in other ways.
How They Do It
Each person on the emergency response team must have at least 40 hours of course training, both book learning and hands-on. The team lead will have field experience of at least one year, over 80 hours of training and specialty training, which can include water rescue, tram line rescue, and others.
Regular employees, even those with some medical training, may freeze up or panic during a crisis and won’t be of any help to others or themselves. It’s important to have an ERT available to assist with whatever is necessary. Contact Code Red Safety at visit website for more information. Follow us on twitter.
