Are You Entitled to Protection Under the Kentucky Lemon Law?

by | Jun 12, 2017 | Law Services

Kentucky Lemon Laws can help you to get a full refund (minus the value of the amount of time the vehicle was in operation) if you get stuck with a vehicle that does not operate fully. Of course, there are some limitations to the law like, farm equipment is not covered, motorcycles and mopeds are not covered, mobile homes are not covered and any vehicle with more than 2 axles. You may be eligible for protection under this law if your situation can meet the requirements set out in the law.

The Requirements

To file a claim under the Kentucky Lemon Law act you have to be able to meet certain requirements like:

   * Vehicles that are covered under the law are typically any vehicle that is licensed to be on the road
   * New vehicles
   * Some used vehicles
   * The fault needs to be discovered in the first 12,00 miles or the first year of ownership
   * 4 attempts to correct the problem must be made or 30 days in the shop has to be spent

Your Part

For a lemon law claim to be successful you must play your part in the situation. Your part in the situation is to contact the dealership as soon as you notice a problem. DO NOT fix the problem on your own at an outside shop, no matter how tempting it is just to get the vehicle right and usable. Make sure you keep every communication from the dealership regarding he repairs. Keep a phone log of all the contact you have had with the dealership about the car. Doing your part will ensure that you will be able to file a claim with success. Krohn & Moss, Ltd. Consumer Law Center® can help you to do your part and get your claim processed with success.
